At the age of 15 years and 314 days, Arianna became the youngest Italian athlete to win a medal at the Winter Olympics when she took the bronze medal in the 3,000 metres relay in Turin in 2006.
At Vancouver in 2010, she won another bronze, this time in the 500 metres event, and four years later in Sochi, she won silver in the 500 metres and bronze medals in 1,500 metres and 3,000 metres relay. In Sochi she was upgraded from bronze to silver medal in the 500m, after British skater Elise Christie was disqualified for causing a crash in the final.
Her greatest Olympic performance undoubtedly came in Pyeongchang in 2018 when she won her first gold medal in the 500 metres, silver in the 3,000 metres relay and bronze in the 1000 metres.
In addition to her Olympic successes, one of the highlights of her career was arguably the 2015 World Championships in Moscow when she won a gold medal in the 1,500 metres, a silver medal in the Overall competition and bronze medals in 500 and 1,000 metres individual and the 3,000 metres relay.
She has won a career total of 24 medals in World Cup, World Championship, European Cup and European Championship competition.
