Hundreds support Laureus #TeamSportforGood at the Vitality British 10k

The weather may have been wet but London was awash with activity yesterday as over 30,000 excited runners took to the closed streets of central London for the British 10k. Among those pounding the pavements were a group of 50 runners from Mercedez Benz UK, who will each be donating £200 to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation as part of their challenge. The team also managed to raise £2,000 between themselves.

Youngsters from the Laureus-supported project Urban Stars also participated in the race, many of whom were running for the first time, giving them an excellent opportunity to participate in a large-scale event.

A group of women also partnered with the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and #ThisGirlCan, raising awareness and funds helping young women around the world participate in sport.

Derek Bardowell, Head of Programmes at the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, reflected on his experience running the race. Derek said: “The support from all the #TeamSportforGood runners was great. I saw quite a few of us on the way round and everyone was looking out for each other and giving encouragement. It was a great team atmosphere”
