Ian Walker’s IWC timepiece raises funds for Laureus
Current Volvo Ocean Race champion skipper and Laureus Ambassador Ian Walker has auctioned off his IWC Schaffhausen Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph ’Ocean Racer’. Worn by Walker during this year’s competition, all funds raised at the auction for the timepiece will go directly to Laureus Sport for Good Foundation projects around the world.
Andrew Thomas, an enthusiastic supporter of Laureus and IWC Schaffhausen, was lucky enough to win the auction and received the timepiece from Walker himself at an event at the IWC Schaffhausen Boutique in Zurich, Switzerland.
Laureus Ambassador Ian Walker commented: “I’m delighted to hand this watch over to Andrew, it travelled the world with me during last year’s Ocean Race and I’m glad it’s going to a good home.
“I recently spent time with youngsters from a Laureus-supported project so I’ve seen first-hand the great work which goes on, it’s great that funds raised from the auction of the watch will help Laureus projects continue to do great work around the world.”
