Nelson Mandella

25 Years of Laureus

Winner
The 34-year-old triathlete won the Ironman World Championship with a dominating performance in Hawaii. He completed the 2.4-mile ocean swim, 112-mile cycle leg and a marathon run in 8 hours 14.40 mins. It made him the first man to win both the Ironman world title AND an Olympic triathlon gold medal, which he did in 2008 in Beijing.
In a stellar 2015 he also won the 70.3 Ironman World Championship, becoming only the second man to win both the Ironman 70.3 and the Ironman World Championship in the same year. He also won the Ironman European Championship in Frankfurt, breaking the course record by over five minutes. Jan is a Laureus Ambassador.
