Get involved and fundraise with Laureus
March 22, 2012
One of the highlights of the fundraising calendar at Laureus is always the Silverstone half marathon.
And this year in March it was certainly no exception.
After hours of early morning training sessions in the run-up to the big day, a passionate group of Laureus fundraisers took to the iconic circuit. And though the track might be famous for its motor racing action, on this day it was all about the dedication of the runners.
Following his Silverstone experience, Thomas Frisby summed up exactly why sport can be such a positive force when he said: “Sport is my first love, and I truly believe it’s a great way to get people active and involved no matter where they are from or their level of ability. It’s the universal language.”
And another Laureus runner, Nicole Griffiths (pictured), who was an athlete and national swimmer in her youth, said: “This was my first half marathon I have ever done and I chose Laureus because sport is something very close to my heart … I loved the idea of a charity using sport as means to improve people's lives so it seemed a natural choice to me.”
The Silverstone half marathon is just one of a range of fantastic events you can take part in with Laureus.
So if you want to follow in Thomas and Nicole’s footsteps raising money to help young people across the world through sport, then head over to the fundraising section here.
In fact, the London 10k run is just two months away…
