France’s swimming legend Laure Manaudou equalled the record number of individual titles ever won in the same European Championships when she captured four gold medals in Budapest in August, in the 400 metres and 800 metres freestyle, the 100 metres backstroke and the 200 metres individual medley.
In the 400 metres freestyle, she broke her own world record with a time of 4 mins 02:13 secs. In addition she won bronze in the 200 metres freestyle, 4 x 200 metres team freestyle and 4 x 100 metres team medley.
