The controversial British boxer beat Wladimir Klitschko to become WBA, IBF, WBO & IBO unified heavyweight champion of the world in Dusseldorf in November. Fury beat Klitschko over 12 rounds by a unanimous points decision. Before the fight Fury had made what appeared to be homophobic comments in a newspaper interview which caused widespread criticism. The UK Sports Journalists Association removed his name from the nominations for their annual awards. He is unbeaten in 25 professional fights, 18 of which he won by knock-out.
