At the Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing, the 23-year-old Norwegian won four gold medals and one silver to make him the most decorated medallist at the event, regardless of sport and gender. He was the only competitor at the Paralympics to win four gold medals. Two months before Beijing he had also won the overall World Cup and three gold and two silver medals at the World Para Snow Sports Championships.
