Established herself in 2023 as one of the greatest ever 1500m runners. In Budapest she became the only female athlete to win both the 1,500m and 5,000m at the same World Championships. It was her third 1,500m world title; she also won in 2017 and 2022. In a stunning year, she set three world records in 49 days - the 1,500m, Mile and 5,000m. Her 1,500m record of 3 mins 49.11 secs made her the first woman in history to break the 3 mins 50 secs mark. She is a double Olympic 1,500m champion from Rio (2016) and Tokyo (2021). She has been described as one of the top 100 most influential Africans by New African magazine.
