Winner
Spain won their first ever Women’s World Cup in 2023. They beat England 1-0 in the final with a goal from captain Olga Carmona. With a game built around possession and skill, midfield player Aitana Bonmatí was named Player of the Tournament and Jennifer Hermoso received the Silver Ball and Salma Paralluelo, 19, won the Young Player Award. 

Spain became Europe's third world champions after Norway (1995) and Germany (2003, 2007) and at the Laureus World Sports Awards, became the the first all-female team to win the Laureus World Team of the Year Award.
