In one of the most remarkable seasons in the history of cycling, Tadej Pogačar won 25 races in 2024. He won his third and arguably his best Tour de France title and took the Giro d’Italia with a winning margin of 9:56 minutes; in September, he rode solo for 50km to win his first World Championship and become only the third man to complete the triple crown in the same year, after Eddy Merckx in 1974 and Stephen Roche in 1987. In 2024, he also became the only rider in history to secure the triple crown and two different ‘monuments’ races (Liège–Bastogne–Liège and the Giro di Lombardia) in a single season.
