Jana Rawlinson won the 400 metres hurdles in the World Championships in Osaka in August, just eight months after giving birth to her first child. It was a joyous comeback for Rawlinson, who, as Jana Pittman, just before the Athens Olympics in 2004, tore the cartilage in her right knee. She had surgery one week before the Olympics, but could only run fifth. She has also won gold medals in the 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games and the 2003 World Championships.
