Steve Stricker was regarded as one of golf’s rising stars in the mid-1990s, then his game went into an inexplicable slump. He made numerous swing and equipment changes but nothing worked. Then in 2006 his luck changed. He started the year with limited status on the Tour, finished 34th on the money list and was voted US PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year.
His revitalised form continued in 2007, qualifying for the Presidents Cup after his victory at The Barclays and finishing the year as runner-up to Tiger Woods in the FedEx Cup play-offs and ranked World No 4. He was once again voted US PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year.
