Nelson Mandella

25 Years of Laureus

Became the youngest ever winner in Formula One, at the age of 21 years and 73 days, when he won the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in September. In one of the biggest surprises in Formula One history, it was also the first ever win for the Toro Rosso team.  Vettel beat the previous record of Spain’s Fernando Alonso who won the 2003 Hungarian Grand Prix at age 22 years and 26 days.  Vettel also holds the record for being the youngest ever Formula One driver to take part in a Grand Prix meeting, at 19 years and 53 days.
