With his amazing skills, ferocious shooting ability and his aggressive play, Ronaldo was a key reason for the club’s remarkable success and he was voted FIFA World Player of the Year, UEFA Club Player of the Year and FIFPro World Player of Year. He also played in the Portugal team which reached the quarter-finals of the European Championship.
Ronaldo's precocious talents were spotted by Manchester United in 2003 when they signed him, at the age of 18, for £12.24 million from Sporting Club, Lisbon.
