After ten years of underperformance following his double gold medal success at the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games, Yuk Wing Leung at last re-emerged in 2014 as one of the world’s best boccia players, winning four gold medals at the World Championships and Asian Para Games.
Despite a silver medal at the Beijing Paralympic Games in 2008, he had struggled to find his form in the precision sport which is related to bowls and pétanque. However at last September’s World Championships in Beijing, he staged a remarkable comeback from three ends down against London 2012 bronze medallist Eliseu Dos Santos to win the individual BC4 title. He also won the pairs BC4 event. Full of confidence, Leung then went on to win the same two titles at October’s Asian Para-Games in South Korea.
