Britain’s Rachel Atherton completed the perfect season in 2016, becoming the first ever rider to win all seven rounds of the UCI Downhill World Cup. She has now completed 13 straight races unbeaten in the World Cup, dating back to June 2015, surpassing the previous record held by Anne-Caroline Chausson.
Atherton also won her fourth senior World Championship, in Val de Sol, her third in four years. Atherton began riding BMX at the age of eight and mountain biking at 11 andis now setting new standards for the sport.
