Mentel-Spee showed her remarkable mental strength competing in the Winter Paralympics in 2018. Cancer sufferer Bibian, 45, had the C6 vertebrae in her neck removed and replaced with a titanium construction. She was not able to compete before going to Pyeongchang, but despite that, only six weeks after spending six months in hospital, she won two gold medals.
