At 20, she was the outstanding woman in the Para Swimming World Championships in London, winning seven gold medals, five in individual events, including a world record in the 100 metres backstroke S8. She also won the overall WPS World Series. Born with a foot condition for which she needed 13 operations before the age of 12.
