Won her second straight Ballon d’Or, becoming the first woman to win the award twice. She had captained FC Barcelona to victory in all 30 of their League games in 2021/22 and was the leading scorer with 11 goals in the Champions League, including one in the final, where Barcelona were defeated by Lyon. In July she became the first woman to play 100 times for Spain, but missed the European Championship after an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
