In 2023 Mondo Duplantis once again showed that he is the dominant pole vaulter of his generation as he won a second straight World Championship gold medal in Budapest in August with a jump of 6.10 metres. For the reigning Olympic champion it was also another record-breaking year. In February indoors in Clermont-Ferrand, he broke the world record again, clearing 6.22 metres to increase the number of his career six-metre-plus jumps to 60, the most of any vaulter in history. And in September, at the Diamond League meeting in Eugene, he broke the world record for the seventh time in four years with 6.23 metres.
