Ferrari maintained their dominance of Formula One in 2004, relentlessly easing to a sixth successive World Constructors Championship, with 15 Grand Prix wins out of 18 races – World Champion Michael Schumacher winning 13 times and Rubens Barrichello winning twice.
Schumacher won his seventh Formula One World Championship title during the year and his driving skills allied to the speed, good handling and reliability of the Ferrari proved to be a partnership that was irresistible.
This is the fourth consecutive year the Ferrari Formula One team have been nominated for the Laureus World Team of the Year Award and Managing Director Jean Todt has been in control throughout, along with technical director Ross Brawn, engine director Paolo Martinelli, chief designer Rory Byrne and head of engine design Gilles Simon, who all signed contracts during 2004 to stay at Ferrari until the end of the 2006 season.
"I still have a great passion for my work and my motivation is the same as ever," said Todt. "I could not dream of being with a greater team. Staying here for a few more years is something to be proud of."
