After London hosted in 2012, it felt only right that the next Olympic host city should have a turn. And so it was off to Rio de Janeiro in 2013 for the Laureus World Sports Awards, hosted by the legendary Morgan Freeman.

Jessica Ennis-Hill was named as the Sportswoman of the Year after her successful Olympic Games performance in 2012 and the Ryder Cup team of Europe were also rewarded for their success with the Team of the Year statuette.
