The brilliant 19-year-old won four gold medals and a silver in Rio. She was the most decorated female athlete of the Olympic Games. She became the first swimmer since 1968 to win the 200, 400 and 800 metres freestyle at the same Olympics. She also won gold in the 4x200 metres freestyle relay and silver in the 4x100m freestyle relay. She is the current world record holder at 400, 800 and 1,500 metres freestyle. Her combined 11 individual titles at the Olympics and World Championships is a record for a female.
