A much respected and admired footballer, Christian Eriksen has played 120 times for the Denmark national team. During a Euro 2020 match against Finland in Copenhagen in June 2021, he suffered a cardiac arrest and was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the pitch. He was later fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator and returned to football in January 2022, playing for English club Brentford. Six months later he joined Manchester United on a three-year contract. In November he played for Denmark in the FIFA World Cup.
