French striker Kylian Mbappé won the Golden Boot in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar as top scorer in the tournament with eight goals, including a hat-trick in the final against Argentina. It was the first hat-trick in a final since England’s Geoff Hurst in 1966. He is now sixth leading scorer in World Cup history with 12 goals. In 2021/22 he became the first player in French Ligue 1 to finish a season as top scorer and top assist provider, for his club, Paris St Germain.
