Under manager Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid won a record 14th Champions League / European Cup from their 17 appearances in the final - their fifth success in nine years. It was also Ancelotti's fourth Champions League title as a coach, making him the most successful in the competition's history. Real also won their 35th La Liga title in 2022 and the Supercopa de Espana. Their captain Karim Benzema was winner of the Ballon d’Or after scoring 44 goals in 46 games in all competitions.
