After taking a pause from competition in the 2022-23 season to focus on improving her mental health, she returned to the competitive snowboarding circuit in 2024 and made an immediate impact. The double Olympic champion made history during her seventh X Games superpipe gold medal win, completing 1260 – three and a half rotations – for the first time in the history of the competition during her victory lap. She had previously attempted the 1260 at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing but fell on the landing. Kim, 24, has now tied Kelly Clark’s record of most X Games wins. Kim was named as the winner of the Laureus Action Sportsperson of the Year Award in 2019 and 2020.
