In 2023, Aitana Bonmatí had a golden year on the football field and then, made history at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid. 

The midfielder won the Liga F and UEFA Women’s Champions League titles with Barcelona; the FIFA Women’s Football World Cup with Spain, plus the individual Golden Ball and Ballon d'Or Féminin prizes.

At the Palacio de Cibeles, she became the first footballer to win the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year Award and was part of the Spain team named as Laureus World Team of the Year - the first all-female team to win the Award.
